The first agreement is Be Impeccable with Your Word. He talks about words are powerful like a sword with two edges. One word can create a most beautiful dream and another can destroy.
I created Rethinking Leadership because one day a long time ago a woman used her words cruelly on a person who she did not really know. A person who was struggling but didn't want to show that to the world. That person heard those words so deeply every day they went to work. Like paper cuts they are annoying at first and then over time they become very painful. Those cuts tore this person apart and he chose to end the pain by ending his life.
He was my Dad. The woman was his PA. I forgive her because she didn't know what impact she was having. If she had chosen different words then I would not have dedicated my life to helping leaders be more aware of who and how they are being. I would not have helped hundreds of people find their centre, regain their sense of self and move through challenges to the other side.
I would not have travelled the world to discover the ingredients that would create Rethinking Leadership and that transformed my pain into my purpose and legacy. Life , the Universe shows us many gifts and some take time to understand. We also need to know how to look and how to be present to see.
