As a leadership coach, I'm passionate about helping others achieve their goals and live their best lives. But I'm also human, and I know that taking care of myself is essential to being able to show up fully for my clients and loved ones. I am not always great at this and sometimes I don't see that what I need is time to recharge and reset. Then its often someone else who gently nudges me to take action. Sounds familair?
That's why I want to share with you my favorite ways to recharge and reset over the weekend.
My Morning Routine
For me, the weekend starts with a gentle morning routine. I wake up and take a few minutes to meditate and set intentions for the day. Then, I head out for a walk in nature, with my dog Harley. It's a simple yet powerful way to clear my mind and feel connected to the world around me.
Getting Creative
One of my favorite ways to unwind is to get creative. I love to cook, and the weekend is the perfect time to try out new recipes or experiment with new flavors, especially after being inspired by watching Master Chef The Professionals! There's something therapeutic about chopping and sautéing vegetables and watching a dish come together. Plus, I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor with my loved ones!
Reading and Relaxation
I'm also a bit of a bookworm, and the weekend is the perfect time to catch up on my reading list. I love to curl up with a good book, a cup of tea (or something stronger) and a cosy blanket. It's the perfect way to escape into another world and recharge my batteries.
Spending Time with Loved Ones
Of course, no weekend is complete without spending time with the people I love. Whether it's a family dinner, a walk with friends, or a phone call with my children in Australia on advenutres of their own, I make sure to prioritise connection and community.
Tips for a Rejuvenating Weekend
Set boundaries: Establish a clear distinction between work and personal time to avoid burnout.
Get moving: Engage in physical activity that brings you joy, whether it's a hike, a bike ride, or a dance class.
Practice mindfulness: Take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath and calm your mind.
Pursue a hobby: Engage in a creative activity that sparks joy and fulfillment.
The Power of Intention
As I approach the weekend, I remind myself that it's not just about relaxation, but also about intention. By being mindful of how I spend my time, I can create a sense of purpose and direction that will carry me through the week ahead.
So, I ask you: how will you use your weekend to recharge and reset? What activities will you prioritize to nourish your mind, body, and spirit? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
