Whirlwind Weeks and the Power of Rest

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of connection, purpose, and new horizons. From team coaching in Switzerland and Germany to launching the "Rethinking Leadership Manager as Coach" program for a new cohort in the East Midlands, and speaking on Legacy and Purpose at the Association for Coaching Fellow's Summit, it has been an exhilarating journey. I even managed to carve out time with close friends in Derbyshire — a perfect balance.

Now, it's time to catch my breath.

A colleague recently told me, "I love how driven you are and how much energy you have!" That’s partly true; when I’m working, I’m fully committed. But after all the energy spent, I know I need deep rest to recharge.

My coach, Saafi O'Neill, once shared this quote with me, which I hold dear:

“A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John Maxwell

To be that kind of leader, I believe in constantly Rethinking Leadership — drawing insights from Indigenous wisdom, Eastern traditions, and Western psychology. This work allows me to support my clients in their own journeys of discovery.

Here’s how I recharge to start fresh, fully engaged:

  1. Reiki Self-Healing – A 30-minute session after work, grounding myself and rebalancing my energy. We are all energy, and awareness of its flow is a vital resource.

  2. Meditation – I chose a 20-minute davidji meditation this morning to center myself in the present. In which I asked myself: Do I agree that I cannot step into the past to change it? Do I agree that I cannot step into the future to force it? Do I have the patience to wait until the mud settles and the water is clear? It's a beautiful meditation that brings me into the present, my mind settles, my body feels relaxed, free from mental noise, physical and emotional tension This daily ritual clears my mind and eases any tension.

  3. Physical Activity – With mind and energy aligned, I’m ready for a gym session and a motorbike ride to connect with nature.

Are you caring for yourself today? If you're curious about redefining leadership or would like some support, let’s have a conversation.
